One of the most coveted sool drinking places, Anjou Maeul is as authentic as they come. Frequented by chefs after hours, this rough and ready bar is one of the hardest to get into. It has a small selection of sool and makgeolli (including 느린마을) and is worth the wait.

A small, well-curated bar adjacent to the walls of Gyungbuk Palace that feels like an art gallery. The sool here is some of the hardest sought artisans, and has an atmosphere of quiet beauty.

An oasis in the middle of the popular food alley near Gyeongbuk-gung, Jeondae Gamdaek delivers a peaceful traditional atmosphere. The makgeolli list is not extensive but does carry some aspartame-free options, and the food is classic authentic Korean.
